Spine Alignment

One of the questions most golfers have when re-shafting their golf club is – What is Spine Aligning?

Do I need it? What are the benefits and what are the drawbacks?

Every golf shaft has a “spine” - even steel shafts. No shaft is manufactured perfectly round and because of this, they tend have an 'egg' shape. The spine section is stiffer than the rest of the shaft. This is the point of the shaft that is aligned to the club head – NOT the logo.

The theory of spine alignment is highly recommended by PGA professionals, professional club builders as well as leading shaft experts. But everyone agrees that the overall performance and overall feel of a club that is properly spine aligned is recommended over shafts that are just “glued and stuck” by the factory.

There are only two drawbacks on getting your shafts spine aligned – first is cosmetic. Since we are aligning the spine to the orientation of the club, the logos might not line up uniformly. You can assure anyone who asks, that it's not due to a "drunk" club builder. The logos don't align because your clubs have been properly spine aligned.

The second drawback is price. Due to the time consuming process of individually testing each shaft, most club builders charge anywhere from $8-25 per shaft for this service. If you factor in all 13 clubs in your set, the price adds up.

But we have a solution.
